Nike Unveils the 2016 Doernbecher Freestyle Collection

Launched in 2004 as a fundraising partnership with Portland’s OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Nike has helped raise $14 million for the institution. Keeping the collaborative efforts going, Nike has revealed the new Doernbecher Freestyle Collection for 2016. This year, the six young Doernbecher Hospital patients chosen are Andy, Braylin, Chase, Chehayla, Corwin and Damien. Nike’s Creative Director of Global Brand Presentation Michael Doherty explains “What’s most amazing for me is that when I look at the shoes and apparel, I can see the individual kids and their personalities in the product. Each piece is so true, so authentic, to the kids that they begin to be known to the consumer by the patient-designer’s name.”

You can read up on each patient’s story behind the shoes here. Nike explains the 11 month process on their website.

These new designs will launch on December 17 and all proceeds from sales will go to OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
